The DEATH RIDE Tour - Ride to Defeat ALS is an annual charity cycling event that takes place in Southwestern Colorado making a 232 mile loop from Silverton to Telluride, Telluride to Durango and then Durango back to Silverton over 5 mountain passes and 16,500 feet of elevation. The event was founded by Barry Sopinsky who lost his father to ALS when he was 13 after a seven year battle. The DRT is totally funded by donations.
